Amaravati: Sri Polavarpau Venkata Sesha Naga Mallikarjunarao, Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the Andhra Pradesh State Secretariat and Assistant Commandant of the Andhra Pradesh Special Protection Force (APSPF), has been awarded the prestigious Meritorious Service Medal (Indian Police Medal – MSM) by the Government of India. The honour was announced on the occasion of Republic Day, January 2026, in recognition of his 36 years of disciplined, dedicated and meritorious service.
A native of Gudlavalleru village in Krishna district, Sri Mallikarjunarao completed his childhood and school education in Gudivada, and pursued his higher education in Vijayawada. He joined the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) in 1989 and underwent training in **Himachal Pradesh. He later served in various ITBP units in *Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh*.
In September 1993, he joined the Andhra Pradesh Special Protection Force (SPF) on permanent absorption from the ITBP. Since then, he has discharged critical security responsibilities across the state. His postings include DG–SPF Headquarters, Hyderabad; IDPL; Andhra Pradesh High Court; KTPS Palvancha; RTPP Kalamalla; Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD); ONGC; Rajamahendravaram; Kadapa; Vijayawada Airport; and GPP Vijayawada, among other key installations.
He also served as Drawing and Disbursing Officer and Administrative Officer at the Vijayawada Zone Commandant Office. At present, he is serving as the Chief Security Officer of the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat.
In recognition of his outstanding service in the ITBP and SPF, he has received 27 cash rewards, 17 Good Service Entries, 8 commendations, and 4 appreciations, besides the Andhra Pradesh Police Seva Medal in 2006 and the Andhra Pradesh Uttama Seva Medal in 2013.
The conferment of the Indian Police Medal (Meritorious Service Medal) stands as a crowning achievement in his distinguished service career. On this occasion, the Director General, Inspector General, Commandants of the AP Special Protection Force, along with Secretariat officials and staff, expressed their happiness and extended their heartfelt congratulations to Sri Mallikarjunarao, stating that his service is an inspiration to young police officers.
